Fall is already here and with this beautiful season come many exciting festivities! One traditional fall event we are celebrating at the Fairview Inn and Sophia’s Restaurant is Oktoberfest. Although this festival originated in Germany, it is celebrated all across the world.
The very first Oktoberfest dates back to Germany in the year 1810! The original party was a celebration honoring the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. Citizens of Munich were invited to attend the festivities held on the fields in front of the city gates to celebrate the happy royal event. This wedding sparked an annual celebration in all of Germany that has carried on over 200 years! The official Oktoberfest is still held in the original location in Germany, and it is now considered the largest festival in the world!

Although Oktoberfest ends on October 12th, we are carrying on the party until the end of the month at Sophia’s Restaurant! Our award winning chef, Gary Hawkins, has prepared a delicious three course menu of seasonal dishes that will be sure to delight anyone who dines with us on Saturday, October 26th. Some of the appetizing treats include grilled wild boar sausage, venison schnitzel, and pumpkin crème Brûlée. Don’t forget about the delectable beer pairings that will complement each course of this extravagant meal! This is a one night only opportunity for visitors of Jackson and local residents to taste a piece of Germany! Sophia’s Restaurant opens for dinner at 5:30; reservations can be made online or by calling (601) 948-3429.
